Richard Levine is a contemporary, graphic artist whose work seamlessly fuses the abstract with the figurative to create a hallucinogenic, twenty-first century aesthetic. Playing with geometrical structures, deeply reminiscent of the technological networks that form computer generated images, Levine combines bright blocks of colour with dimension-bending shapes and graphics, to explore the topology of iconic, cultural icons. 'La Mela' depicts a large apple, which Levine has covered with contoured stripes of cherry-red and black. Bold, minimal composition, merges with an illusionistic visual quality, resulting a hypnotic and tactile revision of the flat, printed image.
